LAW AND GRACE By Marilyn P. Habecker Artists: Frances H. Hertzler
Lesson 1: WHAT IS THE LAW - God gave the law to Israel to show what sin is; In the law God provided a system of sacrifices for the covering of sins; The penalty for breaking the law was death; The law served as a guide until Christ came.
Lesson 2: WHAT IS GRACE- Grace is the opposite of law; Grace is God's kindness, love and favor to those who do not deserve it; Joseph's kindness to his brothers is an example of grace; Because of God's grace, Christ died for all our sins.
Lesson 3: A CONTRAST BETWEEN LAW AND GRACE - Instead of trusting God completely Abraham and Sarah chose to help Him keep His promise; Abraham had two sons rather than the one God intended; God ordered Abraham to send away the slaves Hagar and Ishmael-His promised blessing was on Isaac; All who live under the law are slaves-those who accept God's grace are free.
Lesson 4: LAW AND GRACE REVIEWED- If we break one part of the law, we have broken the whole law; Because of God's grace we who trust in Christ are not slaves but sons; The law keeps people away from God; God's grace brings people to Himself through Christ.
