Boy Afraid - A Visualized Story

By Rose-Mae Carvin

Fear, as demonstrated in this story, can be a paralyzing emotion.  Left unchecked, anxieties can grow, greatly distort reality, and in some cases, control a child's responses to many situations.

Some children, for self protection, mask their deepest fears.  We are praying that BOY AFRAID opens opportunities for children to respond to God's wonderful truths, particularly those of His presence and help for the believer.

The center section of this book contains extra teaching activities designed to help children talk about and handle their fears.  Activities such as:

  • What Makes Me Afraid?

  • Who Am I? (Bible People Who Were Afraid)

  • What Can I Do With My Fear?

  • What Time I Am Afraid "Find-a-Verse" Wheel

Teachers will find the sections "Counseling a Child For Salvation" and "Counseling Christian Kids to Handle Fear" helpful.

Solving a child's fears is not a simple matter.  Fear may not be solved by reading a Biblical command such as "be anxious for nothing."  Changing fear to trust in God is a growing process for the Christian child.  We hope this story and the activities will help in that process.
