"Dad's car turned into the driveway and pulled up to the garage door.  There's no time like the present, Gil could hear his grandfather say.  Gil jumped off the porch and ran to the car. He skidded to a stop as the car door swung open. "Dad, you got a minute?"

Gil has a plan to buy a horse. He thought convincing his dad would be the hard part.  But then, he hadn't met Rattler, and he didn't know a boy could learn so much from a horse.
