THE CHARACTERS OF CHRISTMAS MEET CHRIST -By Ellen McKay Trimmer
A Christmas Program for Sunday Schools or Christian Schools using many students of various ages (Nursery through Intermediates or K-4 through Grade 6)

DIRECTOR’S  NOTES

STAGE PREP: As program opens, a large book (closed) is sitting on an easel on side of stage left in good view of audience.  Front cover with title, “THE CHARACTERS OF CHRISTMAS MEET CHRIST.”
As each scene is changed, a student turns to the next page.

BOOK PREP:  A large book of poster board should be built with flannel attached to inner pages allowing large flannel graph figures to illustrate each section.  OR if an artist is available, the inner pages could have the appropriate scenes drawn on them in color or silhouette form.  The display should be large and set on an easel enabling the audience to see the pictures.  The title of each scene should be clearly lettered at the top of each double page.

Alternate Methods**

(1) If a PowerPoint program is available, pictures and accompanying titles could be shown on a big visual screen behind/above the characters on stage.

(2) Each scene could be illustrated in tableaux form by students dressed in appropriate costumes with a student holding the scene title sign.

**If either of these methods is used, slight adjustments to the directions for certain speakers will need to be made.

OTHER PROPS:
Large poster board letters for “A Welcome” recitation
Large Star and seven smaller stars for acrostic
Black letters backed with flannel for acrostic
Cardboard “hearts”  for “Hearts With No Room”.
Appropriate Biblical-times costumes for characters in “And You?”
